Ioki Cave

A space that suddenly appears just a few tens of meters from the national highway.
As you walk through the dark cave, where water flows so much that you can soak your feet, the sky suddenly opens, and you can see a fantastic view of fern colonies and sunbeams. This natural fern-covered cave is a natural one created by the erosion of waves when the surrounding area was the sea.
Fossils of shellfish can be seen on the walls of the cave, which is about 5m high, about 3m wide, and about 100m long. About 40 types of ferns, mainly tropical ferns, grow naturally on the wall surface around this cave and on the shore of the valley beyond.
It is very rare for many types of ferns to coexist in one place, and the entire fern community is designated as a national natural monument.
